About Peter

Peter has been painting for approximately 20 years. Instinctively a colourist / expressionist, Peter was initially drawn to paint the corporate environments where he worked as a data cleanser. He depicted the call centers / open plan offices (the new mines as he called them), in paintings expressing the impact of the information technologies upon the workers. A series of highly charged, vivid and visceral “landscapes” of the modern corporate environment followed. As an antidote to this, Peter would escape to the wild places of the North, as often as he could and turned to these natural environments for solace, freedom and peace.

The beauty and the wonder of the forests, lakes and mountains became his new inspiration. Gradually the stultifying effects of working in the data environments began to dissolve.

This website is a forum to share these works. Peter can often be found in all weathers painting en-plein-air in the rugged wilds of the North, the tranquil beaches of the Northumbrian coast or the mountains of Cumbria. Or tucked away in his studio…….

Peter has exhibited across the UK and has appeared twice as a wildcard on Sky Landscape Artist of the Year.
